COLORADO SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL pre-show attractions
Green shows
Every evening before the plays, Will Shakespeare (actor Chuck Wilcox) strolls about The Green (the lawn area between the University Theatre and Hellems buildings), entertaining picnicking audience members. He shares Shakespearean anecdotes, discusses life in Elizabethan England and relates lesser-known facts about the plays to be performed at this year's Festival. A variety of players provide additional entertainment with music, dance and song on the Green, each evening from 7:00 until 8:00.

Falstaff's fare
Gourmet picnic suppers are available and include a choice of entree, dessert and beverage. Suppers are delivered to the "Bard's Yard" (the courtyard area adjacent to the Hellems building, next to the Shakespeare Garden), where snacks and drinks may also be purchased. You may pay with Visa, MasterCard or Discover through the CSF Box Office or check #5 on the Ticket Order Form. In order not to disturb other theatre-goers, box suppers must be enjoyed prior to the performance in the areas outside the theatres. Available from June 23 through August 13.
Shakespeare garden
Two beautiful box gardens decorate the courtyard adjacent to the Hellems building, planted with flowers, herbs, and vegetables which are mentioned in Shakespeare's plays. Free guided tours are offered, beginning at 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Tuesdays and Saturdays, before the plays. Self-guided tour sheets are available at the gazebo Box Office at the north entrance to the Hellems building and outdoor theatre. If you are interested in private group tours, call Marlene Cowdery at 494-5844.
